NIGHT BEFORE: SLOW DOWN YOUR BRAIN
FIGHT DAY:
We do not recommend doing your Daily Drills on fight day, especially any visualization. We recommend just following this Fight Day program. However, if you find visualizing works for you on fight day, then do it! Mentally training needs to fit you! A lot of guys continue to watch film on fight day.
30 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIGHT: BLACKBOARD DRILL
This helps you get rid of pressure, expectations, worries, and fears.
BACK STAGE/LOCER ROOM
It seems most guys do well, getting into a near full sparring session before they go out to fight. Other guys keep it “loosey-goosey” – that is, relaxed and fun – find what works for you. Listening to music, zoning out, watching other fights.
20 MINUTES BEFORE FIGHT: BREATHE, STRETCH, SHAKE, LET IT GO
*This is vital to do!*
Breathing options:
- In 3 seconds, Hold 3 seconds, Out 3 seconds, Hold 3 seconds (repeat)
- In 3 seconds, out 3 seconds (in with peace, out with stress), you can say that to yourself as you breath, or “In, 2, 3, out 2, 3; in, 2, 3, out 2, 3…”)
- In 4 seconds, Hold 4 seconds, Out 4 seconds, Hold 4 seconds (repeat) – more military style as it’s called
RIGHT BEFORE FIGHT, DURING INTRODUCTIONS: CLEAR MIND ONCE MORE
